Back to Virgin®
Select Process Below
The B2V (Back to Virgin) range takes clients in house "waste material" (edge trims, skeletal waste, mis-shapes, over-runs) and converts this back into pellets at the client specified IV and at pellet bulk density. This process can have a massive impact on client’s FPE as B2V material can be used as 100% replacement for virgin, though the client Processes will influence this.
BACK TO VIRGIN®
Clients in process "waste" can be collected, size reduced for economic handling and brought to PETUK. This material can be homogenised through a vented extrusion process and 100% screened to identify/remove any contaminants. Extrusion conditions can be adjusted to accommodate some co-extruded products. Melt filtration removes any unmelts or gels
BACK TO VIRGIN®
As with KUDOS manufacture the second stage; considered to be the most effective for decontaminating recycled PET, is Solid-State Polymerisation (SSP) within proprietary reactors. The reaction is controlled by the application of both temperature and applied vacuum to remove any volatilised material, and the bi-products from the condensation reaction, producing food use approved "super cleaned" polymer.
BACK TO VIRGIN®
The final application resides with the client. B2V material can be used at 100%, maximising first pass efficiencies and reducing the client usage of virgin polymers, though blending is recommended for co-extruded materials. As a further benefit clients who have some lower IV "internal rework" can have their B2V processed at higher IV than their virgin polymers to facilitate virgin/rework/B2V blending to achieve uniform IV, where this is critical.
