IVPlus allows for customer's polycondensable ploymers to be modified; to increase the level of crystallisation; to have the intrinsic viscosity (IV) adjusted to specific client values; to blend in additives and post treat the finished products and any combination of these. The final product is tailored to meet the client’s requirements; usually to meet end product specifications or to assist in the subsequent processing of the finished products.
IV Plus® is a toll operation on clients own or "purchased in" virgin polymers to improve their mechanical or rheological properties by enhancing the crystallinity or Intrinsic weight (intrinsic viscosity).The technology employed is batch solid state polymerisation (SSP). In variably a 1,000Kgm trial will be completed from which production processing data can be extrapolated. At this stage preliminary cost estimates can be made.
Solid State Polymerisation (SSP) is a chemical process in which the polymer chain length is increased by the controlled application of heat in the absence of oxygen and water by means of either a vacuum or by purging, with an inert gas, to drive off the by-products of the reaction. The batch process and systems employed by PETUK enables extremely high accuracy of the product measured molecular weight.
